Crypto Interac withdrawal fees in Quebec: what does it cost to get your dollars back?
In short
As of November 2, 2026, withdrawing your dollars by Interac is free at Newton, Shakepay, Netcoins and Coinsquare (within its limits). It costs money at NDAX ($1.50), Crypto.com ($1.99) and Kraken / Kraken Pro ($10). Coinbase, Wealthsimple and Bitbuy publish no fixed amount. Checked across 10 platforms available in Quebec, all run by AMF-registered firms (9 separate registrations).
Fees read on the platforms’ official pages on November 2, 2026. Exception: Coinbase was last checked on October 20, 2026 (its help page blocked automated reading on November 2).
Everyone talks about buying crypto. Far fewer talk about cashing out to Canadian dollars. Yet an Interac transfer can be free on one platform and cost $10 on another.

Free Interac withdrawals
Newton, Shakepay and Netcoins list free Interac withdrawals. So does Coinsquare, at 0%, but only from $20 to $2,000 and one withdrawal per 24h.
Paid Interac withdrawals
NDAX charges $1.50, Crypto.com $1.99 per withdrawal (minimum $100) and Kraken / Kraken Pro $10 (minimum $15).
Unpublished fees (and why)
Wealthsimple shows no Interac amount on its crypto fees page. Bitbuy’s amount is unreadable on its page. Coinbase shows the fee in the preview, right before you confirm (checked October 20, 2026). In those cases we write “not published” instead of guessing.
Interac, EFT or wire: which one?
Interac sends the money to your bank account by Interac transfer. An EFT (electronic funds transfer) uses your account number. A wire is mostly for large amounts. What platforms publish as of November 2, 2026:
- Newton: EFT free; wire free from $10,000, $35 between $5,000 and $10,000.
- Kraken / Kraken Pro: EFT 0.35% (min. $50), versus $10 by Interac.
- NDAX: EFT $4.99, versus $1.50 by Interac.
- Coinsquare and Bitbuy: EFT 1.5% and wire 1.5%.
- Netcoins: wire $50 if under $25,000.
On a small amount, a low flat fee (Interac) often costs less than a percentage. On a large amount, compare the EFT percentage with the flat fee.
What does it cost over a year?
A simple example, with no guessed rates: if you cash out once a month by Interac, that is 12 withdrawals a year.
- At $10 per withdrawal (Kraken / Kraken Pro): $120 a year.
- At $1.99 (Crypto.com): $23.88 a year.
- At $1.50 (NDAX): $18 a year.
- At $0 (Newton, Shakepay, Netcoins, Coinsquare within its limits): $0.
Traps: limits, minimums, percentages, bank fees
- Limits: “free” sometimes comes with a cap (Coinsquare: $2,000 and one withdrawal per 24h).
- Minimums: Crypto.com requires at least $100 per withdrawal; Kraken $15 by Interac.
- Percentages: a 1.5% EFT on $5,000 is $75.
- Your bank’s fees: your bank may add its own (Newton points this out on its page).
Withdrawal + purchase: the real total cost
The withdrawal is only one piece. A platform that is free to cash out can cost more to buy, or the reverse. Example with published fees: at NDAX, buying $1,000 costs $2 in commission (0.20%), then $1.50 to withdraw by Interac, for $3.50 in listed fees.
